[ The Ship’s Log – 03 June 2025 ]
A few days ago, while Captain Manolis Nikolakis and the crew of the M/V BUBBA BOOSH were in the middle of the Atlantic en route to Houston, he shared with us a mantinada, beautifully capturing the life of seafarers and the original ways they find to break the monotony of long voyages.
In the latest video he sent us today, Captain Manolis appears to have brought the verses of his mantinada to life—by literally transforming the ship’s stern into a basketball court! He asked the boatswain to rig up nets around the deck to keep the orange ball from flying overboard, and as soon as the sea calmed, the crew headed out for a game! They’re expected to reach their destination, the port of Houston, on the 4th of the month. Until then, whenever they find the chance, they’re out shooting three-pointers, layups, and making fast breaks!
