The seasoned engineer, Giorgos Sigalas, talks about his life at sea, the experiences, thoughts, and emotions from his time serving in both deep-sea shipping and coastal shipping.
“I first embarked in March 1969 aboard the M/V ASTYPALAIA of the Eugenides company from Thessaloniki to Constanta, Romania. On this trip, my brother was the second engineer, which made things a bit easier. We often listened t Voice of Greece over the ship’s loudspeakers, which the radio operator had set up, but I also had a world-receiving transistor radio,” says mastro-Giorgos, along with many other stories.
