Voice of Greece, ERT’s global radio, has included the “Greeks around the world” series in its program since 2022. These are shows curated by Greeks abroad, in the country where they live, introducing us to our fellow Greeks and their local activities.
The beginning was with Greece in Denmark, followed by Greece in Luxembourg and Greece in Argentina. “Greece in the United Kingdom” has now joined the series. It is presented by young journalist Eliana Nunes, a Greek-British national.
On Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 10:00 Athens time, the show “Greeks Aroundthe world – Greece in the United Kingdom” with Eliana Nunes hosts Giannis Papameletis, Dimitris Blachouras and Pantelis Karati. These three young people, who emigrated from Greece to England, are successfully working in the hospitality industry. They will talk about living and working in England, as well as their dreams for the future.
Giannis Papameletis, originally from Megara, Attica, owns the Just Greek Penrith restaurant in northern England, which he runs with his partner, Maria Skarlatou. Just Greek Penrith has received various awards and was recently named the “Best Take away” in England.
Dimitris Blachouras, who grew up in Patras and hails from Agrinio, works as a Research and Development (R&D) sous chef at Annabel’s. Located in the Mayfair area of London, Annabel’s is recognised as one of the world’s most exclusive private clubs.
Pantelis Karati, who grew up in Tripoli and is originally from Albania, works as a sous chef at Firebird, the gourmet Mediterranean restaurant in London’s Soho district. He is twenty-three years old and emigrated to England when he was just eighteen.
