Three composers who marked the evolution of political song in Greece: Manos Loizos – Thanos Mikroutsikos – Christos Leontis. The latter remarks: “I took many things from the struggle of the people and I tried to express this through my songs, which spoke of both the beauty and the difficulty of life. They spoke of the effort to stand up and I think that we did manage to stand up. Whatever has something to say and something to offer to the anxieties of the world is a great comfort both to the creator and to the one who enjoys the work of art. Today I see that people are separated and each one is entrenched, a world by themselves. For me, my motto is Yannis Ritsos’ verse: ‘We sing in order to unite the world, not in order to divide it’”.
