On Sunday, April 28th, at 10.00 ( Athens time) the show Greece in the United Kingdom, presented by Eliana Nunes, hosts the scientific researcher and educator Despina Lazarou.
Despina Lazarou was born and raised in Athens. She graduated from the University of Oxford in Human Sciences. For the last year, she has been working as a researcher and project manager at Prolepsis Institute, a non-profit company that has been active in medical research, health promotion, environmental and occupational medicine since 1990. In addition, for six years, Despina Lazarou has been teaching children at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth – the Center for Charming and Talented Children of Anatolia College. Next September, a Master of Science program will be launched at the University of Edinburgh, specializing in Child and Adolescent Education and Psychology.
In her interview on the show “Greece in the UK”, she refers to her experience from the University of Oxford, her impressions about teaching children, as well as her work at the Prolepsis Institute.
She also talks about the humanitarian issues that touch her most.
Voice of Greece, ERT’s global radio, has included the “Greeks around the world” series in its program since 2022. These are shows curated by Greeks abroad, in the country where they live, introducing us to our fellow Greeks and their local activities.
The beginning was with Greece in Denmark, followed by Greece in Luxembourg and Greece in Argentina and now Greece in the United Kingdom has joined the series. The show is presented by young journalist and Greek-British national Eliana Nunes.
It is noted that in recent years there has been a large wave of immigration from Greece to the UK, resulting in London competing with Melbourne in the title of the 3rd largest Greek-speaking city in the world.
