VoG’s series of broadcasts “Greeks Around the World – Greece in Denmark”, presented by President of the Greek Community of Denmark, Elina Stamatatou on Sunday, March 3rd hosted the Director of the Psychiatric Clinic in Vejle, Denmark, Mr. Giorgos Adamopoulos.
Giorgos Adamopoulos studied Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and at the same time studied at the Military School of Corps Officers (S.S.A.S.) and graduated in 2001. As a Medical Officer of the Greek Army he served in various cities of Greece as well as in missions abroad (Afghanistan 2003, Albania – Kosovo 2004-2005). He completed his psychiatric residency in 2011. He later specialized in emergency psychiatry, psychoses and substance disorders. In 2012 he resigned from the ranks of the Greek Army and emigrated with his family to Sweden where he remained until 2016, when he emigrated to Denmark. In Denmark he served in various positions and held managerial roles. Since the summer of 2022 he is the administrator of the Vejle Psychiatric Hospital. The hospital has a capacity of 100 beds, and has outpatient clinics in 4 different towns of Syddanmark county. The hospital employs 470 people, including 60 doctors. He has 3 children.
