Kimon Papadopoulos from Finland on ”Our Global Voice” | 29 Feb. 2024

Greek businessman Kimon Papadopoulos, who has been living in Finland since 1971 and is a prominent member of the Greek community, talks about the concert accompanied by the youth choir of Syros that he organizes together with the Finnish-Hellenic Association at the Academy in Helsinki on April 7 and the Greek night at his restaurant a day earlier, as well as other aspects of life in the Scandinavian country on “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.

“We miss Greece and we are trying to bring Greece to us”, he said. Mr Papadopoulos has organized in the past other concerts with Greek music in Helsinki partially covering the expenses himself. He has also helped raise money for the restoration of a Greek church in Tallinn, Estonia. He also referred to the Finnish pastor Jako Kara, who knows how to dance all Greek dances, and to the story with Fenia cigarettes of the Greek expatriate Christidis, who gave them free of charge to Finnish soldiers fighting the Soviet invaders under Stalin in 1939-1940.
