Dimitris Tsikas, an IT professional who moved abroad in 2014, first to Iceland, then to Poland, and recently to Finland, compared the three countries in terms of culture, living costs, pay, and bureaucracy. He was speaking on Voice of Greece’s “Our Global Voice,” hosted by Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Tsikas said he considered it unlikely that he would return to Greece in the coming years. He added that he did not know anyone who would leave a good job abroad for a better one in Greece. He did, however, know people who had grown tired of living abroad and returned to Greece, accepting less desirable jobs.
Asked about the situation in Finland, he said Finns were concerned about developments in the wider region and the war in Ukraine, and were preparing old shelters for use if needed. Ukrainian flags, he noted, could be seen everywhere. Finland joined NATO a few years ago and has closed its border with Russia.
