Katerina Diakoumopoulou, associate professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, joined Dimitris Kontogiannis on Voice of Greece’s “Our Global Voice” to discuss the main aim of the 2nd International Conference on Greek Diaspora Theater, taking place in Paris, and why the French capital was chosen as its host city. She explored how the themes addressed by Greek artists abroad have changed over time and offered a brief preview of her own presentation, explaining how it relates to the diaspora’s broader explorations in playwriting.
Diakoumopoulou also explained what is meant by Greek diaspora theater, noting that the conference is jointly organized by the university and ten other organizations. She praised the crucial contribution and support of the Greek Community of Paris and Surrounding Areas. The participants’ aim, she added, is to bring academic discourse into the Greek diaspora community and engage in dialogue with its members.
The conference takes place on 15–17 October 2026 at the Maison de la Grèce in Paris. Admission is free.
