On Wednesday, February 1st, 2024 at 18.00 Athens time, Alexis Kostas hosted Kostas Anastasiadis on his show “Voices and Music”. The world-renowned musician is the one who had the original idea and created the musical method titled “The Harmony of Rhythm”, which delves into the very genesis of rhythms and their emergence from a common archetypal foundation.
The visionary creator hails from Central Macedonia, Greece, was born in Thessaloniki and grew up in Kilkis.
His thirst for knowledge leads him to America and he takes music lessons at the percussion department of the Los Angeles-based M.I.T. Music Institute. During his studies his ideas were considered innovative and recognized by musical legends such as: Jack Dejonette, Vinnie Colaiuta, Tony Williams, Ralph Humphrey, Casey Scheuerel, Billy Higgins.
After the end of his studies he teaches at P.I.T. (Percussion Institute), delivers seminars and participates in live concerts/recordings with Kim Stone, Steve Bailey, The Hellenic Sounds, Brett Garsed, Milcho
Leviev, Jimmy Mahlis, Simon Nabatov, Tamir Hendelman, Tam Tam d’Afrique, Oz Ezzeldin, Tars Lootens, Eleni Karaindrou, Duke, Elli Paspala, Martin Gjakonovski, Petros Klampanis, Thomas Siffling, Theodossi Spassov, Bojan Z, Stomp, and many others.
Kostas was honored by M.I.T. by establishing the “P.I.T. Unique Individual Stylist” especially to honor his innovative skills.
As a restless researcher who respects his roots, he studies and searches for world tradition and its evolution, creating a fresh blend of sounds and moods, giving concerts and making recordings and seminars around the world.
