Like Odysseus with guest Naya Dalakoura | 22 June 2024

Naya Dalakoura, archaeologist and author of the book, was a guest on the show: “THRASSA – The witch of Thrace”.

”Set against the multicultural mosaic of Thrace, a place of capricious gods and brave men, the exciting world of the fringes meets the learned knights of the West and initiated guards of secret orders bound by vows of silence.” (from the back cover of Naya Dalakoura’s book) This is an exciting, noir-style story, which unfolds in Thrace, shortly after the first fall of Constantinople, in 1204, by the Western Crusaders.

In the narrative, tribes and peoples meet from the North of Europe, as far as Koumoutzina (Komotini), Maroneia, Samothrace. It refers to the Forest and Mountain tribes that came down to the Aegean and Thracian Lands to meet or ally or fight or simply live with the Mountain people in Southern Europe, like the people of the “mountain” islands which do not approach the shore, but remain in the springs, pedestals and rivers. A book that talks about the coexistence and amalgamation of primitive wisdom, without magic and other metaphysics, among people, but also about the Divine Law that human existence carries in whatever religion or race it belongs to. But more than anything, it reminds us of the deep, inseparable relationship and love of man with Nature.
