Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Stefanos Gikas discussed the two-day “landing,” as he described it, of a large ministry delegation in Syros, led by Minister Christos Stylianides.
He highlighted the two most significant topics discussed in the capital of the Cyclades:
- Securing European funding aimed at improving ferry connections to remote routes through green transition initiatives.
- The transport equivalence measure, emphasizing that while it is a vital component of insularity, it requires rationalization to ensure it benefits those who truly need it.
Gikas also expressed his love for the sea and emphasized the deep connection Greeks have with it, enabling them to excel in global shipping.
