On this episode of “Voices and Music” presented and curated by Alexis Kostas, the guest was the distinguished Greek soprano and scholarship holder of the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Hall Maria Kostraki, who grew up in Thessaloniki and now resides permanently in Munich, Germany. She made her debut at the age of 23 with the role of Norina in G. Donizetti’s opera Don Pasquale at the Munich Chamber Opera.
Since then she has successfully performed roles from her wide repertoire in operas such as: Cosí fan tutte, Don Giovanni, La clemenza di Tito, Die Zauberflöte, L’ elisir d’ amore, Carmen, Il viaggio a Reims, La Donna del lago, La Cenerentola, Die Csardasfürstin, Dido & Aeneas, Ariadne auf Naxos, etc. in Greece (University of Thessaloniki, Athens – National Opera House, Athens – Concert Hall), Germany (Staatsoper Nürnberg, Theater Dortmund, Festspiele Weikersheim, Rossini Festival Bad Wildbad, Meistersingerhalle Nürnberg, Herkulessaal and Carl-Orff-Saal Munich, etc.), Italy (Rossini Opera Festival – Pesaro, Teatro Nuovo and Caio Melisso – Spoleto, Teatro del Giglio – Lucca, Teatro Goldoni – Livorno, Teatro Stabile – Potenza, Teatro Dante – Florence, etc.) and Egypt (Cairo and Alexandria Opera).
