Captain Marios Bougioukas, Merchant Marine chief officer, president of the newly established Hellenic Maritime Purchasing Club and board member of the Chios Marine Club, speaks on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” and Voice of Greece.
“The sea for me is childhood memories, a childhood dream that became reality, four to five generations of maritime tradition and family heritage. The sea for me means pride, dignity, work, prosperity, and opportunities for so many people. If I were born again, I would still become a sailor,” Captain Marios says, among other things, about the sea and the maritime profession.
Regarding the newly established Hellenic Maritime Purchasing Club, of which he serves as president, he notes that “its purpose is to promote innovation, encourage the exchange of best practices and views, and address challenges and issues in the field of maritime procurement. It also aims to strengthen operational efficiency, promote communication and outreach, and pass on the value and strategic importance of maritime procurement to young professionals, among many other goals.”
