On Tuesday, 29 September 2026, “Common Ground” took us to Eptachori, Kastoria. This beautiful village belongs administratively to Kastoria, but its landscape, history, and cultural traditions connect it to Epirus. Travelers taking the old road from Neapoli, Kozani, to Konitsa will be struck by the area’s natural beauty, the picturesque village, and the otherworldly allure of the volcanic mountain rising above its houses.
Our guides to the village were Argyro Soulioti, president of the local community; Apostolis Galanos, president of the village’s Cultural Association; Ioanna Loulaki, a retired educator and researcher of local history and folklore; and Giannoula Pliatsika, who returned to her village after 30 years in Germany and now lives in her family home.
