On Wednesday, 29 April 2026, the program “Voices and Music” hosted Dr Giorgos Bilalis, Artistic Director of the Romeiko Ensemble, in the studio.
The discussion explored the art of Byzantine chant, the historical research surrounding the manuscripts of Meteora, and the importance of reviving a musical tradition that had remained silent for more than two centuries.
Among other topics, the conversation focused on the upcoming concert—conceived as a spiritual, immersive experience—to be held on Thursday, 07 May 2026, at 19:00 (Athens time), at the Church of Saint Panteleimon on Acharnon Street in Athens.
The event marks the world premiere of an unpublished work by Abbot Parthenios (†1807). Through the voices of the Romeiko Ensemble, accompanied by the resonant sounds of talanta and bells, the performance aims to evoke the spiritual atmosphere of Meteora in the heart of the city.
