Giorgos Serafeim, now an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, spoke from Serres, where he is currently spending the holidays, about the differences and similarities in Christmas and New Year celebrations between his hometown and Winnipeg, where he emigrated six years ago with his family.
In his interview on Voice of Greece and the program “Our Global Voice”, hosted by Dimitris Kontogiannis, Giorgos Serafeim also reflected on the life lessons he gained during his officer training in North America.
Mr Serafeim, who successfully completed the basic officer training programme of the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 54—while most of his fellow trainees were 20 to 30 years younger—shared his experience, emphasising that neither age nor gender is a limitation, and that human physical capabilities are far greater than we often believe.
