This first installment documents, in chronological order, both lesser-known and widely remembered घटनες that left a lasting mark on global sporting memory.
The journey begins with the Superga air disaster in 1949, when the legendary Torino FC team was wiped out while returning from Portugal.
It then moves to 1958 and the Munich air disaster, which devastated Manchester United, followed by the crash of the aircraft carrying Egypt’s national fencing team the same year.
Also featured in this first part are the 1960 air crash involving Denmark’s Olympic football team, the 1960 tragedy that struck the Cal Poly Mustangs football, and the 1961 disaster in Chile that claimed the lives of the Green Cross team.
