The program featured Katerina Poutachidou, director of the Creative Drama & Arts Centre, based in Melbourne. Ms. Poutachidou, who also teaches at the Greek community schools in Melbourne, spoke about the 7th Youth Theatre On Air online radio festival, “Theatre in front of a Microphone”, an international initiative jointly organized by three theatre workshops: the Creative Drama & Arts Centre in Melbourne, “Poupoulo” in Thessaloniki, and “Motivation in Arts” in Paphos.
The festival brings together young people of Greek heritage from Australia, Greece, and Cyprus, encouraging them to create original radio theatre pieces, stories, and fairy tales through the art of audio performance and storytelling.
Also joining the program were four students — Chrysanthi, Efsevia, Panagiotis, and Apostolis — from the Bentleigh Campus of the Greek Community of Melbourne, who participated in this year’s festival with a radio theatre production inspired by the Exodus of Mesolonghi.
