Remarkable Personalities: K. Nigdelis, S. Koimisoglou, F. Isaacidis | 20 Aug. 2025

Voice of Greece and the program “Remarkable Personalities” with Stavroula Karali “travel” to unforgettable Cappadocia. Companions on this radio journey are three men of Cappadocian descent: Konstantinos Nigdelis, Symeon Koimisoglou, and Fanis Isaakidis, who speak about the history, culture, and sanctity of their homeland — about the underground cities, the Karamanlidika tradition, but also about uprooting, refugeehood, and population exchange.

Konstantinos Nigdelis, whose family hails from Niğde in Cappadocia and who founded the Museum of Refugee Hellenism of the Holy Metropolis of Neapolis and Stavroupolis, has been honored by the Academy of Athens and the Ecumenical Patriarchate (with the title of Archon Hieromnimon) for his research and writing on Cappadocia and the lost homelands. Symeon Koimisoglou, also a descendant of Greeks from Misthi in Cappadocia, shares the same love for the land of his ancestors and has produced rich research and publications on Cappadocia, earning repeated recognition from cultural and other institutions. Both Cappadocians trace the history of their land from Christian times through the uprooting and population exchange.

The program also features Fanis Isaakidis, President of the Panhellenic Union of Cappadocian Associations and of the Cappadocian Association of Evros “The Three Hierarchs.” He invites the listeners of Voice of Greece to the 25th Panhellenic Gavoustema in Anavyssos on 22, 23, and 24 August — the annual gathering of Greeks of Cappadocian descent, second, third, and fourth generation, who preserve with undiminished zeal and love the history, traditions, and culture of their homeland.
