Kokkinia was a vast refugee and working-class town, filled with numerous shacks and surrounded by factories and artisan textile workshops.
The new radio documentary of the HISTORIAS MINIMAS series, in collaboration with RADIO PANIK of Belgium, refers to the refugee settlement in the Kokkinia area and how the young refugees experienced the Nazi occupation.
The documentary details the refugee settlements, the Battle of Kokkinia in March 1944, and the arrests of the residents from the pre-war “Oriental Carpet” yard. It also highlights the actions of Nazi collaborators, who spread terror and bloodshed in the refugee settlement.
