Historias Minimas: When the Barrier Fell – 85 Years Since the Start of World War II | 06 Sept. 2024, 13:00

On September 1, 1939, Wehrmacht soldiers removed the barrier at the Polish border, a moment captured by the Associated Press. The invasion of Poland by the Wehrmacht on September 1, 1939, marked the beginning of World War II. It was a historic turning point with ramifications that continue to this day.
Eighty-five years later, Poland held a state burial for the remains of more than 700 victims of Nazi Germany’s mass executions during World War II, recently discovered in the so-called Valley of Death in the northern part of the country.

Voice of Greece presents a new historical radio documentary as part of the radio series Historias Minimas, attempting to interpret and analyze the impact of the Nazi invasion of Poland, which occurred exactly 85 years ago.
