Giannis Demirtzoglou, the prominent principal of the historic Zografeio High School in Istanbul, joined “Our Global Voice” on Voice of Greece, with Dimitris Kontogiannis.
He discussed the new school year, the students, and the major events planned for 19 September, when the school marks its 133rd anniversary, and beyond. These include the International Festival of Traditional Dances and Choirs and the International Student Conference next March. He also spoke about Istanbul’s Greek community, which, though small in number, remains steadfast in preserving its heritage.
Demirtzoglou, who has served Zografeio High School and Istanbul’s Greek community for more than four decades, expressed hope for calm waters in Greek-Turkish relations, which affect the city’s Greek community, and for the reopening of the Halki Theological School to become a reality as soon as possible.
