“Faraway Words” with Nick Germanakos

From San Francisco, where he is a permanent resident, the poet and translator Nick Germanakos visits Athens and the studio of “The Voice of Greece”, Tuesday, March 7, joining Natasa Vissarionos and Nicole Papadopoulou on the broadcasting program “Faraway Words”. The occasion for this interview was the publication of his poetry collection “Ora et Labora”, in Greek, by Melani Publications. A collection of poems that also represents the journey of his life from Cyprus, Wales, Kalymnos, Crete to San Francisco. Nick Germanakos was born in Cyprus in 1940. He studied in Wales and England. He worked as a translator of Greek poetry and literature and as a teacher. For several years he translated and promoted Greek writers and poets to the English-speaking public, which is why his contribution to the promotion of contemporary Greek literature abroad is significant.
