A radio documentary about the infamous leader of the Wagner mercenary group Yevgeny Prigozhin, who has been active on various war fronts for the past ten years and played a pivotal and dark role in the events following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in March 2022.
Prigozhin’s social rise and acquisition of wealth and power in the post-Soviet space does not differ qualitatively or quantitatively from corresponding examples of other Russian oligarchs. However, his close ties to Vladimir Putin and his transformation from oligarch to bloodthirsty warlord preoccupy international media.
The radio documentary presents events from his childhood in St. Petersburg to his activity in Syria, African countries and, of course, Eastern Ukraine.
