The Friday, November 17, 2023 show was, almost entirely, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the uprising and the bloody suppression of the Polytechnic University in 1973. After the introduction, the show features an interview given to Prokopis Angelopoulos by Stavros Lygeros, on the occasion of the launch of his book titled “The Polytechnic Uprising, a Forgotten Testimony”. In the second hour, immediately after the telephone connection with the Polytechnic area and Ilias Koukos, ERT TV reporter, we open a line with Australia and Melbourne, and talk with Dr. Maria Irodotou, Program Coordinator and a Lecturer in Greek Studies at La Trobe University, who lived in Athens through the years of the Dictatorship and the events of 1973 as a student, and then suffered the consequences of the junta in her home country of Cyprus, returning shortly before the Turkish invasion. After vividly describing incidents from the persecution of students by the junta, and the impact that the tyrannical regime had on everyday life and civil liberties, she also recounts the adventure in Cyprus, where she was forced to leave her home which was in the dead zone and, in 1977, to emigrate with her husband to Australia.
