Myronas Michailidis, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Saxony Conductor, on the show ”Take Your Time” | 02 Feb. 2024

The conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Saxony and artistic director of the Cultural Center of the City of Heraklion of Crete, Myronas Michailidis, was hosted today by the “Voice of Greece” on “Take Your Time” with Prokopis Angelopoulos, on the occasion of the anniversary concert celebration for the 40th anniversary of the twinning between Leipzig and Thessaloniki, which will take place tomorrow Saturday, February 3rd, in Leipzig.

The event is organized by the City of Leipzig (Department of International Cooperation), the Leipzig Fraternization Association of Thessaloniki, the “Friends of the Saxon Philharmonic Wind Orchestra” and the church council of the Bethanienkirche zu Leipzig church.

The twinning of the two cities took place in the former German Democratic Republic in 1984. This year marks its 40th anniversary with the concert that will take place. The event will be accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Saxony under the direction of the Greek conductor Myronas Michailidis.

Referring to the two cities, Mr. Michailidis said that “they may not be capitals, but because of their position on the world map, they are like capitals” and continued about the concert, saying that “this could be expressed by a cultural entity and the very important orchestra of Saxony undertook to carry it out”.
