“Despite my father’s wishes, I took the exams to become a captain and succeeded! I enrolled in the oldest school in the world, the Hydra School of Captains! It was what I wanted to do, and I’ve never regretted this decision to become a captain, to explore and travel the world,” says Captain Giannis Karagiannis, who hails from Limnos and Stemnitsa in Arcadia, and is the son of an engineer on ships.
Captain Giannis speaks on Fair Winds and Following Seas and Voice of Greece about his first voyage aboard the 17,000-ton general cargo M/V AMFION, the ports, the various cultures and societies he encountered, the challenges and adventures, as well as the pranks they played on the ships.
