In Thursday’s episode, 10 July 2025, we began with a good morning from Chios and learned many interesting things about mastiha production, as well as the problems and challenges faced by mastiha producers, from the president of the Chios Mastiha Growers Association, Mr. Giorgos Toumbos.
Right after the newspaper headlines, we had a very engaging interview with former minister Louka Katseli, in which we discussed the current state of the economy in relation to the previous years under the bailout programs. Particular reference was made to 2015, the referendum, and the third memorandum, which, according to Ms. Katseli, was unavoidable—yet Tsipras’ decision to hold a referendum made it more manageable and with better terms.
In the second hour, following the international news with Ivana Djordjevic, we tackled two major current affairs topics. Criminologist Maria Alvanou spoke about the case of Irini Mourtzoukou, while political scientist and international affairs expert Theodoros Tsikas discussed the refugee-migration issue, which has intensified in recent days with large flows from North Africa and the measures announced by the Prime Minister.
Finally, we wrapped up with commentary on the day’s sports news by Petros Mavrogiannidis.
