One of the most distinguished Greek scientists of the Diaspora, Dr. Vasilis Vasiliou, was the guest on the program. He is Professor and Chair of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Yale School of Public Health, part of Yale University.
Through his academic research, Dr. Vasiliou has helped bring the health-promoting properties of olive-derived products to the attention of the international scientific community. On the occasion of his participation in the recent 3rd Elia Lesvos Confest on the island of Lesvos, we discussed his personal and professional journey, the role of olive oil in protecting human health, American consumers’ perceptions of olive oil, and how Greek olive oil can finally secure the place it deserves in the global marketplace.
