Alexandra Galiti, a member of the Greek diaspora and an active member of the “Panellinion” Greek Community, which celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founding on 9 July, spoke on “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis about her family’s history, beginning with her grandparents, who settled in Argentina during the first half of the 20th century. She also described the emotion she felt when she visited Greece for the first time and discussed the activities of the Community, which was founded by Greek immigrant workers.
Ms. Galiti also spoke about the Community’s anniversary events and its facilities, including the Church of Saint Nicholas, which stands alongside the Community’s main building, housing the Greek school and reception hall, as well as the Chapel of Saint Nektarios, located at another site with swimming pools and recreational facilities. She also discussed the Community’s efforts to preserve the Greek language and identity, as well as the upcoming musical event marking the Community’s centennial, featuring singer Peggy Zina and her orchestra.
