Friday’s edition of “Take Your Time” opened with a review of the day’s top headlines from Greece and around the world before turning to the economy and the rising cost of living. Vassilis Korkidis, President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, discussed the challenges facing consumers and presented the Chamber’s proposals for strengthening the Greek economy. The first hour concluded with Ivana Djordjevic’s roundup of international and Balkan news.
The second hour was dedicated to culture as part of the Greek Summer series. Director, actress, and Artistic Director of London’s Theatre Lab Company, Anastasia Revi, spoke about Captain Laskarina, a theatrical monologue by Michalis Darnakis and Maria Laftsidou that she directed. Based on the extraordinary life of Laskarina Pinotsi—better known as the legendary Bouboulina—the production traces the story of one of the leading figures of the Greek War of Independence and one of the world’s first female admirals. Following its premiere in 2024, the production tours Crete, Pelion, and Corfu this summer.
The program also welcomed Nikos Kanellopoulos, concert presenter and producer at ERT’s Third Program, to discuss the 10th ANO International Organ Festival, which returns to Syros this August. The festival, under the artistic direction of Stefanos Tsialis, opens on 17 August with a performance by Olivier Latry, titular organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
Singer and actress Idra Kayne joined the program to talk about her concert with her band on 12 July at Asomaton Square in Athens, as well as her summer tour in Aristophanes’ Ecclesiazusae, directed by Themis Moumoulidis.
Shortly before the end of the broadcast, actress Aspasia Kokosi spoke from the road while traveling to the next stop of her tour with The Meaning of Life, a comedy by psychologist Dionysis Bougas, in which she stars alongside Stavros Nikolaidis, who also directs the production.
