Take Your Time with Prokopis Agelopoulos | 23 Oct. 2026

On Friday, 23 October 2026, we opened with a review of current affairs through online and newspaper headlines. Before the end of the first hour, we discussed political developments with Theoni Koufonikolakou, spokesperson for the Hellenic Left Alliance (EL.A.S.).

In the second hour, Thodoris Tsimpidis, Director of the Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation, answered our questions about the organization’s allegations of misuse of EU funds earmarked for compensation to fishers under the EU’s LEADER program. The organization has submitted its complaint to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.

We then spoke with Stelios Zacharioudakis, President of the Wines of Crete network, about how rising prices are affecting wine production costs and the broader impact of the cost-of-living crisis on winemakers.

Later in the program, we had the pleasure of welcoming Giorgos Arvanitis by phone from France, where he lives. The cinematographer, renowned for his work with Theo Angelopoulos and other directors, joined us for a wide-ranging conversation. Our starting point was his collaboration with Elisavet Chronopoulou on the short film “I Never Learned to Play the Piano,” an adaptation of her short story of the same name, filmed this past summer. We also discussed two upcoming feature films he will work on—one Greek and one French—both scheduled to be filmed in Greece.

Finally, we spoke with Popi Domazou, journalist and former president of Athens 9.84 radio, about an event taking place on Sunday, 25 October, at Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium, known as Leoforos, from 10:00 to 17:00 Athens time. “Mimis Domazos Day” will bring together youth football academy teams, former players, actors, and journalists to honor Mimis Domazos, the legendary “General” of Greek football.
