Iconic Greek singer Maria Farantouri on Our Town! | Sunday, 21.01.2024, 12:00

On Sunday, January 21st, 12:00-14:00 Greek time (and on replay on Monday, January 22nd at 01:00-03:00), the show “Our Town” will host Maria Farantouri.

The great internationally acclaimed Greek singer will talk about the important moments in her career, about the great songs she performed, the top creators with whom she collaborated, about special experiences from her big concerts.

Maria Farantouri will refer to her long and decisive relationship with Theodorakis, Hadjidakis, Savvopoulos, Mikroutsikos, Livaneli, but also with the poets Neruda, Lorka, Ritsos, Seferis, Kampanellis.

She will talk especially about her love and her unique relationship with Mikis all these years, while she will tell us about Hadjidakis that he was “a worthy creator and an honest man”.

In a discussion with Themis Rodamitis, the important artist will refer to social issues that concern her, the Greek music scene today, the social importance of poetry in songs. She will talk about top Greek performers he admired, about rebetiko and the music of the world.

She will tell us that “in Peru, Buenos Aires, Venezuela, Cuba and other incredible parts of the world, they listen with unique emotion Mauthausen, Canto General, the State of Siege and many others.”
