Our Town” features Roderick Beaton.

The historian, author, and professor of English and Modern Greek literature talks about his books, many of which deal with the age-old history of Greek civilization, modern Greek literature, his translations of Greek poets and Greek philosophers.

He makes special reference to Lord Byron (2024 will mark the 200th anniversary of his death), Kazantzakis, and his beloved poet George Seferis.

Beaton talks about his favorite cities and his hometown of Edinburgh. The leading, award-winning historian, a lover of Greece, its islands and of Greek light, talks about the significance of our demotic singing tradition.

He makes special reference to his book “Greeks, a world history” which is considered by international literary personalities a feat and a masterly undertaking that highlights Greek Civilization as a monumental achievement in world history.
