Mezzo-Soprano and Musicologist Dr Maria Georgakarakou on “Our Town” | 28 Fevb. 2026, 12:00

On Saturday, 28 February 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00 (Athens time), Voice of Greece’s program “Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis welcomes Maria Georgakarakou — distinguished mezzo-soprano, voice coach, and Doctor of Musicology.

A remarkable performer and teacher, Ms Georgakarakou trains young people in fundamental aspects of education, musical formation and expression, despite her visual impairment. A creative individual and artist who overcomes every obstacle, she has shaped a life framework that is both highly creative and productive.

In a heartfelt, in-depth conversation with Themis Rodamitis, the guest will speak about her favorite voices and music, Greek culture and the Greek language, as well as her love for poetry, philosophy and radio. She will make special reference to the house of Maria Callas, which is currently in operation, and to the contribution of the great diva.

Also in the studio will be Christina Kokota, Director of the Municipal Music Workshop of Dafni-Ymittos, who will speak about Maria Georgakarakou, their close friendship, her admirable course, and her significant collaborations. Tune in!

Produced and presented by Themis Rodamitis
Broadcast: Saturday, 28 February 2026, 12:00 (Athens time) — with a repeat at 01:00 a.m.
