“What are you? A fish, an animal, or a plant?” Clownfish asked the ethereal creature.
“A flower-fish,” she replied.
“And what is your name?”
“Anemone.”
“Anemone!” Clownfish breathed in wonder, taking another step toward her.
“Wait!” she cried.
“But I want to touch you, to see if you’re real…” little Clownfish insisted.
“No,” Anemone stopped him. “My tentacles drip with poison. Woe to anyone who comes too close. I care nothing for the others, but I cannot bear to lose you. You alone have stayed beside me. Stay alive, if only to keep me company. Oh, how it hurts to be alone…”
On Saturday, 5 September 2026, from 19:00 to 20:00 Athens time, Voice of Greece’s “Narratives”, featuring “Stories and fairy tales for children and adults,” presents a tender tale of unlikely love from Kalentis Publications, starring little Clownfish (Nemo) and a sea anemone.
In “The Clownfish and the Anemone,” author Eleni Priovolou tells of the adventure and joy of seeking true love. At its heart are little Clownfish and Anemone, the flower-fish of the deep whose tentacles drip with poison. Full of tenderness and feeling, their story unfolds in an enchanted underwater world of colorful coral cities and pathways lit by the sun and moon.
The dreamlike illustrations of Katerina Veroutsou guide us through the pages and into the depths. Set beneath waters as beautiful as they are treacherous, this tale of love and the steadfast search for it promises to enchant listeners and touch their hearts.
In the final part of the program, we will discover more about the two creatures at the heart of the tale, their distinctive traits, and their lives beneath the waves. The clownfish became widely known through its memorable appearance in Disney’s 2003 animated film “Finding Nemo.”
