With special tributes and dedicated programming, Voice of Greece celebrates European Music Day, spotlighting emerging Greek artists and sharing their music and stories with the Greek diaspora around the world. Alongside these new voices, the station also honors the legacy of great Greek composers and songwriters.
On Saturday, 21 June, at 14:00, Elena Falirea welcomes Vasilis Korakakis to her show “Folk Paths”. A representative of the new generation of bouzouki players and singers, Korakakis talks about his new album “Alaniarika Sfyrizo”, inspired by the raw spirit of classic urban folk.
That evening at 22:00, Ariadni Sofia Kouri presents a special three-hour edition of “Ariadni’s Thread” featuring a lineup of talented young musicians, singers, and songwriters. Each artist shares a song of their choice to mark the day, along with their thoughts on music, creativity, and inspiration.

On Sunday, 22 June, at 12:00, the show “Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis presents the special tribute “From Mikis Theodorakis to Apostolos Kaldaras”, celebrating the life and music of two of Greece’s most iconic composers. Their children, Margarita Theodoraki and Kostas Kaldaras, join the broadcast with personal stories and reflections on their fathers’ creative legacies.
The festivities conclude the same evening at 20:00 with the broadcast of the concert “Zorbas” by Mikis Theodorakis—a landmark performance held at the Cairo Opera on 8 April 2025. Performed by the ERT National Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Cairo Opera’s A Cappella Choir, and attended by members of the Greek community in Egypt, this moving concert pays tribute to one of Greece’s greatest cultural figures, in honor of his centenary.
