Eleni Delidimitriou – Tsakmaki on “Faraway Words” | 12 Mar. 2025

The beloved author of migration literature, Eleni Delidimitriou – Tsakmaki from Munich, was a guest today on the show “Faraway Words” with Mina Ralli, on the occasion of her well-known exhibition “MIGRED”, running from March 20 to March 30, 2025, at Schillerstrasse 38.

The “MIGRED” exhibition, opening on Thursday, March 20, at 17:30 German time, is being held for the fifth consecutive year by Eleni Delidimitriou – Tsakmaki, in collaboration with the Palladio Foundation and under the auspices of the Greek Consulate General in Munich. The exhibition invites visitors to explore Greek labor migration to Germany over the past 65 years through memories, testimonies, experiences, and mementos from their life journeys.

The author was born in Zagliveri, Thessaloniki, and grew up in Katerini during World War II. Due to the hardships she faced, she was forced to leave for Germany with her husband in 1961. Today, she is a retired, happy grandmother of seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, dividing her life between two homelands. She discovered her love for writing at the age of 54. To date, she has published 13 books, including The Cloth Doll, The Decision That Wasn’t Made, Aris, the Migrant’s Child, The Trees That Didn’t Take Root, Mom, Come Back Again, Wandering Birds, To Delphi with the Charioteer, The Traveling Bottle, Astropalamidas, the Protector of Animals and Nature, Final Stop, Under Gray Skies, and Santa Claus, Bring Grandma Back.
