The charismatic poet Elina Afentaki is a guest of “Our Town” with Themis Rodaitis. She talks about her poetry collections “Icebreaker” (Παγοθραυστικό) and “Made of salt” (Από αλάτι), from which she read her poems, and she makes reference to her novella “Hush…Aunt Lena is sleeping” (Σιγά…η θεία Λένα κοιμάται) and her lyrics, which were set to music by Giorgos Andreou and performed by Tania Tsanaklidou for the music anthology ”Τραγούδια του παράξενου κόσμου”.
In the show, the poet discusses with Themis Rodamitis the concepts of loss, failure, mourning, family, dystopia, love, and the value of the perishable and the ephemeral, including reflections on overconsumption in the modern world, the systematic tendency to avoid taking responsibility, on who we are and where we are heading.
She also talks about Tinos, her place of origin, which has been affected by hypertourism.
