Captain Stefanos Vogiatzis from Oinousses, who now lives on Chios, speaks on “Fair Winds and Following Seas”. He tells great stories from his life on the ships, in his own seafarer’s way. His most distinctive story is one taking place in New Orleans when, although he was a captain for the first time, he managed to get a certificate for loading by the port inspector, on account of his honesty, and later had this certificate framed.
He makes a point of mentioning the countless seafarers who were swallowed by the waves perishing at sea for the Greek Merchant Marine.
