On Sunday, November 3, 2024, Our Town hosted the talented singer and composer Kostas Tziagoulas in the first hour, followed by Panteion University professor Christos Dermetzopoulos in the second hour.
Kostas Tziagoulas discussed the most significant milestones in his fascinating artistic journey and his collaborations with notable musicians. He also introduced his new work, Ekmageio, his second full-length album that just launched, featuring original compositions and songs set to lyrics by Manos Eleftheriou. The album includes contributions from Giorgos Dalaras, Makis Seviloglou, and Irini Haridou, who will also join the discussion.
A special mention was made of Tziagoulas’s 16-year partnership with Giannis Spanos and the upcoming documentary about this celebrated composer, directed by Aris Dorizas. The program featured selections from Tsiangoulas’s latest work and his overall career.
In the second segment, Christos Dermetzopoulos discussed the inaugural Greek Film Criticism Conference, scheduled for November. This unique event will explore topics such as the history and influences of Greek film criticism, especially from May ’68 and the German school, the rich body of print publications, and the role of criticism in today’s digital world. It will provide a broad platform for discussing film criticism with contributions from leading figures in directing, film criticism, and other industry experts who will share their insights.
The program also highlighted Dermetzopoulos’s extensive career, his work as a writer, and his studies in Anthropology, Sociology, Film History, as well as his activities in the visual arts and arts sciences at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Ioannina.
An intriguing show, opening up new horizons in both cinema and the broader cultural realm of artistic thought and exploration.
