Maria Papaioannou, Regional Maritime Academies Manager of the Norwegian ship classification society DNV, was a guest on “Voice of Greece” and ‘Saturday Shift’, the weekend special edition of the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas” with Antonis Karagiannakis on Saturday 13 July 2024.
She talked about the position of Greece on the world map of shipping and the regulations that are imposed to protect the marine environment while she took us ‘on a tour’, explaining the purpose and work of classification societies and especially DNV.
Ms. Papaioannou talked with Antonis Karagiannakis about the new generation in tomorrow’s shipping, education and the technology that is developing at a very fast pace, the role of women in shipping and their position today in the shipping market, the new type of boats that are being built, shipbuilding and inspections as well as artificial intelligence and the role it is expected to play in shipping.
