Nikos Stavridopoulos, who lives in Athens and hails from Asia Minor, embarked on his first voyage in September 1970 from Piraeus aboard the M/V WORLD MONARCH, owned by Niarchos. He chose to become an engineer because it would offer him more job opportunities on land after his time at sea.
With 27 years of maritime service, he acknowledges that his early work at the Skaramangas shipyards before embarking helped him immensely, as he learned a great deal about engines and ships.
Mastro-Nikos also emphasizes that “the Skaramangas Engineering School was a great help to me, and young people who wish to pursue a career in the maritime industry must truly love the sea and ship
