“Our Town” takes us back to ‘the best days of our lives’ | 27 May 2024, 19:00

On Monday, May 27,”Our Town” hosted Giannis Ilidis, who took us on a journey through an entire era – Athens of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s:
the neighborhoods, the everyday people, their hangouts, the theaters, the cinemas, the record stores, the artists of the day.

On the occasion of his book “Magical Days with Sorbet and Tam-tams”, the author brought to life the alleys of his neighborhood, the people he met as a child, and friendships with important people he acquired later. He talked about how this atmosphere of small shops, art scenes, refreshment bars, and endless parties is commonly described with phrases such as “the best years of our lives” or “the age of innocence”.

Giannis Ilidis told us that love and flirting were stronger back then, which made hearts beat and caused a general excitement. He also told us about the magical era of radio, where the whole family gathered to listen to radio shows like “The Theatre of Monday”, “Partner without a Name” and ‘Thea Lena’s’ children’s show.

A journey with authentic testimonies, personal memories, and retro air. The show featured his favorite childhood songs from the radio and his personal records collection.
