The village of Eratyra, a historic settlement in the municipality of Voio in the Kozani region, was featured on the program “Common Ground” on Voice of Greece.
Listeners were introduced to Eratyra through the stories, insights, and reflections of Mr. Giorgos Varkas, President of the village; Mr. Giannis Pitas, Principal Researcher at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and CERTH, and President of the International Academy of Doctoral Studies in Artificial Intelligence—who hails from Eratyra and actively supports its development and educational initiatives; and Father Dimitrios, from the historic Church of Saint George, renowned for its remarkable carved wooden iconostasis, who spoke about the area’s religious heritage.
Particular emphasis was placed on the village’s rich historical past, highlighted by the founding of the renowned school in 1699, as well as ongoing efforts to honor its legacy while fostering local development and education.
