On Tuesday, 13 October 2026, Voice of Greece’s “Common Ground” explored Panagia on the island of Thasos, one of the most beautiful villages in the Greek islands.
Four guests introduced us to their village, each offering a different perspective: Efstratia Panagiotou, vice president of the “O Vakchos” Folklore Association; Fryni Chatzi, president of the Panagia Thasos Women’s Social and Cultural Association; Kleopatra Sotireli, who runs the museum housed in her family’s old olive mill in Panagia; and Komninos Chaideftos, who emigrated to Sweden in 1972 and lived there for decades without ever losing touch with his home village. He also served for 20 years as president of the Federation of Greek Communities and Associations in Sweden.
