On Christmas Eve, Christina Xydi and Giorgos Lignos—Greek musicians from Brisbane—visited the studio of Voice of Greece. Giorgos Lignos grew up in his father’s conservatory and went on to pursue music and production professionally, while Christina Xydi studied musicology and choral conducting.
Eight years ago, they emigrated to Australia with their two children. On the program, they spoke about life in Brisbane and about “Ellinikes Fones,” the community choir they founded. The choir brings together Greeks of first, second, and third generations and is a project created with dedication and passion.
They have already recorded Christmas carols from different parts of Greece as part of their project “Na ta poume?” (“Shall we sing the carols?”).
