The program featured musician and artist Giannis Kofopoulos, a permanent resident of Moscow. He spoke about his musical journey in Russia, which began with his participation in the show The Voice of Russia, where he won over both the judges and the audience by performing the song Misirlou in Greek. He later received an award at the international competition Golden Voice of Baikal with his composition “Trilogy,” which combines three Greek musical themes.
Mr. Kofopoulos also spoke about his project “Heroes,” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism. The project includes six Soviet songs translated and arranged in Greek, as well as six Greek resistance and folk songs translated and arranged in Russian.
He also referred to the spiritual music ensemble Tetraktys, a group of four musicians who study the traditional and sacred music of both the Byzantine and Russian traditions.
