A magical musical journey from New York’s Spanish Harlem to Athens and Patras came to a close today on Voice of Greece.
In today’s program, we had the great honor of welcoming live from New York Johnny Cruz, the “guardian angel” of authentic salsa. He opened the doors of the renowned Spanish Harlem Salsa Gallery, took us back to the golden era of Fania Records, and spoke about the important global campaign “Let’s Support the Artists,” delivering a powerful message about supporting the living legends of music.
Joining us in the studio for simultaneous translation was Katerina Batzaki, who conveyed every word and emotion of our guest to the audience.
The mosaic of today’s international broadcast was enriched by the valuable contributions of:
- Dimitris Kastaris, the acclaimed Greek Latin-jazz bandleader based in New York, who shared his personal perspective on the importance of preserving musical heritage.
- DJ Stathis, the well-known researcher and DJ from Patras, who brought us the pulse of Greece’s Latin music scene and explained how Salsa Dura continues to inspire audiences across the country.
